LE MASSIF DES ARAVIS AT A GLANCE ...

Le Massif des Aravis is a range of valleys, plateaux and peaks that lie between the town of Annecy and the Mont Blanc in the French Alps, just one hour’s drive from Geneva. It offers summer visitors lush green valleys, pure Alpine air, gourmet food and a diverse range of activities – from trekking, paragliding, cycling, grass skiing and canyoning, medicinal plant walks and yoga on the mountain peaks to making and tasting the local delicacy – the legendary Reblochon cheese.

The region comprises four resorts, each offering a different experience and ambiance, and each remaining completely unspoiled having avoided the en masse development of the 1970s. With chalet-only accommodation, each village oozes authentic village Alpine charm all year round:

  • La Clusaz is the largest and best known of the four villages with a wide choice of outdoor activities and 56 sign-posted walking paths and 75 miles of cycling routes on its doorstep.
  • Le Grand Bornand is the more family friendly of the four villages and is also a popular stage of the Tour de France - not to mention 93 miles of sign-posted treks and 8 cycling circuits running for 62 miles.
  • Manigod is a 15th century mountain village of 900 inhabitants linked to La Clusaz and provides the charm of a small village with the services of a larger village on its doorstep. It is picture postcard pretty, with wooden chalets and a strong emphasis on local agriculture and gastronomy.
  • St Jean de Sixt is the smallest resort of the four. It is a recommended destination for nature enthusiasts who enjoy the great outdoors and cross-country walking.
